Kostiantyn is only 2.5 years old, but despite his young age, he has already learned to fight a major and serious illness. In his life, this kid has experienced more than many adults. He was born in the basement of a hospital during the shelling of Zaporizhzhia. Kostia is an ordinary boy who loves to play, laugh and enjoy life. But now his childhood has changed, because the boy is living with a diagnosis that has plunged his family into a new reality – type 1 diabetes.
When Kostia was just over two years old, his parents began to notice that something unusual was happening to him. The boy began to ask for water often, his appetite became excessive, and he was losing weight. Despite the fact that he was an active child, his energy began to decrease and his play became exhausting. His parents went to the doctor, and in the evening he was in the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, type 1 diabetes cannot be cured.
For little Kostiantyn, who has just begun to explore the world, diabetes has become a real challenge. Kostya doesn't understand why he has to take painful injections, why he has to follow a strict diet, why other children can eat sweets and he can't. But his parents know that this is the only way to keep him healthy and prevent dangerous fluctuations in his blood sugar.
Every time Kostia has to get an injection in his finger, he gets nervous. He is afraid of injections, like any child his age. In addition, type 1 diabetes requires regular insulin injections. This is another source of stress for the kid. There are solutions that can greatly improve the lives of children with type 1 diabetes and make it easier to control the disease. One of these solutions is a glucose sensor that helps to measure blood sugar levels without the need to pierce fingers. For Kostia, the presence of such a sensor can be a real salvation. The boy will no longer be afraid of injections and procedures, and his parents will be able to monitor his condition more accurately without unnecessary stress for the child. The sensor will allow Kostia to live a fuller and more active life, and even attend kindergarten without feeling constant pain and fear of injections.
Unfortunately, the cost of purchasing the sensors is prohibitive for Kostia's parents. The boy's mother is asking for help.
