Kostia needs constant control of blood sugar

Kostia Palchynskyi grew up an active and healthy boy. He has excellent grades in school and plays football. Doctors discovered diabetes in the child by accident. His parents complained that Kostya was going to the toilet frequently.

The family lives in the regional center of Mykolaiv region. It is not very safe there now, so they decided to go to Vinnytsia Regional Children's Hospital for treatment. Already in Vinnytsia, with a sugar level of 24.7, Kostia was urgently hospitalized in intensive care and immediately connected to an insulin pump. During the first week of hospitalization, his parents were taught how to use a glucometer, give insulin injections, count calories, and keep a diary. By the end of the week, Kostia's condition stabilized, his insane appetite and constant thirst decreased. He spent another week in the hospital of Mykolaiv Regional Hospital.

Kostia got into the regimen quite easily, because it was similar to the usual regimen in the family. At first, the boy was shy about going to school, nervous about how his friends and classmates would perceive the fact that he now had a problem. But this adaptation was easy too - his friends helped and supported him. Now Kostia has learned how to measure his sugar level and recognize hypoglycemia on his own, keeps a diary and can even give himself an insulin shot when there are no adults around.

But still, he is a child. It can be difficult for him to live in a mode of constant control - of food, time, sugar levels - and a month ago, an unfortunate incident happened: while walking in the park with his friends, Kostia lost his glucometer.

Now the boy really needs sensors to measure his sugar level, so his mother is asking for help to buy them for her son.
