A year and a half ago, a true miracle was born into the Butenko family – a healthy, smiling baby girl named Mia. Everyone knows what a joy it is to hear those first words, "mama and "papa", to watch those first steps, and to hear that first genuine laugh. The girl grew up active and curious; she loved hugs, music, walks, and dancing.
But life changed dramatically when Mia was only ten months old. Suddenly, the child became lethargic, drank a lot, lost weight, and then stopped responding to her mother’s voice. The doctors delivered a terrifying diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. The child’s body had stopped producing insulin. Every day since then has been a fight for her life.
At the hospital, the doctors literally brought Mia back to life. The girl was admitted to the intensive care unit with critically low blood sugar and high acetone levels. After discharge, her parents embarked on a new journey – checking her blood sugar dozens of times a day, insulin injections, sleepless nights, and constant fear for their child’s well-being. But even after all this, Mia smiles, loves to play, and brings warmth to everyone around her – a true little heroine!
Today, the Butenko family continues the fight. For the child to live a full life, she needs modern medical devices: glucose sensors, an insulin pump, and supplies. This is an expensive treatment that requires constant updates. Since there is a war going on, it is very difficult – almost impossible – for the family to manage. Thanks to this project, we will be able to purchase the necessary sensors for the girl.
The hardest thing for Mom and Dad is watching their little one endure injections and blood sugar fluctuations, and not being able to help her the way she needs. But together, we can help! Every hryvnia is a chance for Mia to live without pain or fear. Together, we’ll give this child a chance at a healthy, happy future!
