The first month of little Viktoria's life filled her parents with hope the girl was born on time, grew and gained weight. But at one and a half months, she was hospitalized with purulent otitis. Since then, the struggle for her health has begun, accompanied by constant illnesses, hospitals, and new diagnoses.
At seven months, doctors at OKHMATDYT diagnosed Vika with a brain malformation, general developmental and growth retardation, and critical weight deficiency. Later, at one year and two months, genetic analysis confirmed several pathologies. Doctors advise the child to attend rehabilitation to improve her physical condition, as well as to be monitored by a pediatric orthopedist, geneticist, endocrinologist, and neurologist.
Vika is now 2 years old and continues to suffer from physical developmental delay, protein-energy malnutrition, speech limited to single words, and insufficient chewing function. Fortunately, rehabilitation is helping the girl:
“After speech therapy, Vika began to chew better, and during sensory integration, the child ran a lot and did various exercises – she really enjoyed it. I am also grateful to the psychologist, who gave very good advice,” says the girl's mother.
Continuing systematic treatment is a chance to give Vika a future, but the family is financially exhausted and cannot afford to pay for it on their own. Without our help, Vika will not be able to attend new rehabilitation sessions and may lose the skills she has acquired. Every hryvnia you donate is an opportunity for Viktoria to move forward and acquire new skills.
