Orphanage doctors need medication
For many of us, the orphanage is associated with something infinitely sad, gray and gloomy. But this is not the case. Having visited the Kyiv City Orphanage named after M.M. Gorodetsky, you understand that thanks to the efforts and emotional attitude of the staff to their work, the life and conduct of children deprived of parental affection can be positive and even joyful. But children are children. Even the healthiest of them sometimes get sick and require medical care. What about orphans, many of whom have serious, sometimes incurable diseases that leave their physiological parents behind.
Now the Gorodetskyi Kyiv city orphanage has 53 children. Their age is from 1 month to 4 years. Among them are pets who are on palliative care and are constantly confined to hospital beds. Sick children require constant medical care, treatment and rehabilitation. There are often situations when children need to be hospitalized in other hospitals in Kyiv in order to diagnose, treat or clarify the diagnosis. In such cases, full medical care falls on the Gorodetskyi Kyiv city orphanage.
It should be noted that the institution employs pediatricians and narrow specialists who take care of the health of the orphanage and provide, if necessary, appropriate treatment. As in all Ukrainian medical institutions, there is no full supply of necessary medicines. We are looking for philanthropists, donors and just good people who can help. These children have no families or parents. The entire burden of finding the right drug falls on the management of the orphanage. Those who have faced difficult treatment for their child know what it is. And imagine that you have 53 children. These are children with lesions of the nervous system, children with disabilities and various developmental problems.
The doctors of the orphanage provided a whole list of medicines and medical materials that they constantly need at work. These include tests for HIV and Covid, pills and suspensions, a total list consist of 16 positions. We hope that our publication will find a response and we will be able to at least partially meet the needs of doctors who work with difficult children who need constant care.
