Stories, stories, stories – every single day. Phone call after phone call. Voices, soft and loud. Demanding and humble. Desperate and sad. For child… for mom... for husband… My grandfather is in the hospital…sister has seizures… grandma got a stroke… Diabetic medication ran out a month ago… Workers. Teachers. Plumbers. Cooks. Elders… People with roofs caving in and broken windows. Others are homeless…

Life. The only thing they have left is their life and what’s left of their family. They have to start from the beginning. New cities, looking for the place to stay, to eat, to work. Looking to remake themselves anew, not to forget what happened THERE, but to learn to sleep soundly and to stop shuddering at the sound of a slammed door. And to survive, now on safe peaceful land, to survive among us. Diabetes. Heart problems. Hypertonia. Epilepsy…

War refugees can’t afford lifesaving medication for themselves and their relatives. Although they escaped the horrors of war, their lives are still in danger without medication. Thousands of people left with nothing. We are trying to help the ones in dire need. To save them now, until they could care for themselves. We try get people pensions, a job, and a place to stay.

Today, every one of us is composed and attentive, like never before in our life.

“We” – it means volunteers of CF "Open Palms" and "The Resource Center for help to the Internally Displaced Persons", dozens of volunteers.

There is too much pain and suffering. Everything around us is falling apart, but we stand united, shoulder to shoulder, to walk through TOGETHER…
