Medicines: a weapon against disease
Yevhen was completing his schooling and dreaming of studying at KPI. He had even selected a faculty and was actively preparing. However, a few months before the final exams, he began feeling unwell: his blood pressure spiked, and he experienced unsteadiness while walking. An examination revealed a brainstem tumor, putting his life on hold.
In April, surgeons successfully removed the tumor at the Institute of Neurosurgery, and Yevhen’s treatment continued at the Cancer Institute. However, neither chemotherapy nor radiation therapy yielded the desired results. The medical consultation recommended targeted therapy with Bevacizumab, which offers a significant opportunity to control tumor growth and facilitate recovery. Unfortunately, the hospital does not currently have this medication available.
The price of one vile is nearly 39,000 UAH, and Yevhen requires a minimum of four bottles to commence the treatment course. The boy’s family is not financially well-off; they have a large number of children to support. Additionally, his younger brother has Down syndrome and requires constant care. Currently, while the mother is with her eldest son at the hospital, the father had to resign from his job to look after the younger children. The family simply cannot afford to get 155,000 UAH, and time is running against the child’s health.
Yevhen sincerely believes in our victory in the war and in his personal victory over the tumor. In every war, there is a weapon, for Zhenya it is medicine. Let’s help him get it in time!
