Artem is three years old. He is a very brave, active, and cheerful boy. His family was delighted with his arrival, especially his older brother. Nothing foreshadowed trouble, at least until his mom and dad began to notice that their son was drinking a lot of water, often acting up, and constantly asking his mom to carry him. The situation worsened when the boy began refusing to eat.
A year ago, just before New Year's Eve, Artem began having difficulty breathing. His parents called an ambulance and immediately took him to the children's hospital. The doctors had trouble finding a vein to insert an IV and draw blood for testing. The boy was very scared and cried incessantly. After numerous attempts, the doctors were finally able to take blood for analysis. The conclusion was disappointing – his blood sugar level was almost four times higher than normal. That same night, the mother and son were taken by ambulance to a hospital in another region, where the child was immediately admitted to intensive care. After tests were taken, he was diagnosed with "type 1 diabetes with ketoacidosis", which took the family completely by surprise – the previously healthy and active little boy had no relatives with this diagnosis.
After eleven days in the hospital, the family returned home and began to learn to live on. Artem's mother read a lot, learned to count carbohydrates, select coefficients, and installed a sensor to monitor sugar levels in order to compensate for diabetes as best as possible, because she understood that all of this affected his health and well-being.
The approaching front line forced the family to leave their home and move. Leaving their home for safety, they also left their former life behind. Everything changed, including their financial situation. Support the family in these difficult and unpredictable times! Help Artem with sensors!
