Thirteen-year-old Yelyzaveta is a very kind and lovely girl, sincere and extraordinarily strong. She studies at an ordinary school, dreams of a peaceful childhood, and despite all the trials she has been through, does not lose faith in better things.

Liza was born a healthy child, but when she turned one year old – everything changed sharply. She began having problems with her arm, experienced weakness, and stopped being able to use it. Seizures and loss of consciousness followed. The girl underwent numerous examinations and treatments, but her condition only worsened. Problems with her leg appeared, meaning more examinations and treatment – but nothing helped, until at the age of three an MRI of her brain was performed and a tumor was found.

Liza and her parents were urgently referred to Kyiv for surgery. The operation was complex, but Liza was incredible – a strong girl who got through it together with her mother.

Her parents had to work very hard, as their daughter's surgery had forced them to take on debts that needed to be repaid.

Following the surgery, Liza underwent chemotherapy. She completed the first and second courses, but was unable to finish the third, as at that point she was found to have a high blood sugar level. A new challenge – a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Liza was in hospital with her grandmother, while her mother and father were forced to work to have funds for treatment. After the diagnosis was established, the girl was transferred to the endocrinology ward and prescribed a strict diet, insulin injections, and regular blood sugar monitoring.

For several years Liza underwent only check-ups, then everything started again – surgery and treatment, followed by radiation therapy. She also received treatment in Lviv, where chemotherapy in tablet form was prescribed, and for 3 years in a row Liza fought for her life with the help of tablets.

Liza's parents separated, and her mother raises her daughter on her own. Her grandmother helps as much as she can and is always supportive. Liza's mother is not currently working and therefore cannot manage the financial costs of her daughter's treatment on her own, and is reaching out to caring people for help.

Today Liza needs continuous monitoring sensors, as diabetes requires constant blood sugar measurements and strict control. This girl's life has been filled with many challenges, difficulties, and trials, and so every contribution is not simply financial support – it is the chance for Liza to continue studying, dreaming, and experiencing childhood, despite all the trials that have come her way. We ask you not to stand aside and to give this girl the chance to have a safe life and a childhood without pain.
