Lola and her older sister were left without parental care in early childhood. For some time, they were outside the control of social services until they were noticed by officers of the Kharkiv Juvenile Police. Then fate brought the girls together with Irina, who took the sisters under her wing. Lola has severe pain in her legs due to a congenital foot deformity. She needs surgery so that she can walk without pain.
In accordance with cooperation agreement No. 21 between the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the charity operator Pomagaem Charitable Foundation dated 31 August 2020 and supplementary agreement No. 21. 314 dated 14 May 2025, the project ‘Lola dreams of walking without pain’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of attracting charitable donations to pay for Kazenna Lola's treatment.
The initial amount to be raised was UAH 190,628.00 (one hundred and ninety thousand six hundred and twenty-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks). There was no time to wait, as the fundraising was progressing slowly. In this regard, it was decided to perform the operation not in Uzhhorod, but at the Kharkiv State Hospital, replacing the Prevention Medical Centre.       The guardian reported that the girl's condition was rapidly deteriorating, so the operation was performed on 16 September this year in Kharkiv.
When the entire amount needed to pay for Lola's treatment was raised on two information platforms: the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the Pomagaem Charitable Foundation, we requested that the fundraising be closed and the amount of the project on the UBB be reduced to the amount actually raised – 14,828.00 hryvnias (fourteen thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and to transfer the funds to our current account to pay for the girl's treatment and project administration, in accordance with letter No. 480 dated 08.09.2025.
On 17 September, the girl underwent a long-awaited operation on her legs. The operation lasted more than 6 hours and was performed simultaneously on both legs by three surgeons. She is now at home with her legs in plaster casts. She will have to remain in this condition for another month. It is too early to talk about recovery, because even after the casts are removed, Lola will continue to wear orthoses. A long rehabilitation period lies ahead.
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child's needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help and support!
