In October 2022, Zaporizhzhia was shelled every night, and in early 2024, Sonya developed a severe thirst. One day the girl felt so bad that she had to call an ambulance. In the intensive care unit, the child's glucose level was 3 times higher than normal. The endocrinologist prescribed insulin drugs and recommended the use of a pump and sensors.
In accordance with the agreement No. 21 on cooperation between the CO ICF ‘Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace’ and the Charity Operator of the Charity Fund ‘Pomogayem’ dated 31.08.2020 and the additional agreement No. 21.291 dated 18.11.2024, the project ‘Sofia's Future is at Risk’ was posted on the dobro.ua website to attract charitable donations to pay for the treatment of Lukash Sofia.
During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use some of the funds collected on the website of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation (dobro.ua) to purchase some of the sensors for the girl. Therefore, according to letter No. 68 dated 05.02.2025, we received the collected amount of 20,415.00 UAH (twenty thousand four hundred and fifteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to the Fund's account and continued the collection on the dobro.ua platform.
In February of this year, we purchased Freestyle Libre-2 sensors for Sofiika in the amount of 20,415.00 UAH (twenty thousand four hundred and fifteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
On 02.07.2025, thanks to the donors of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange, who closed Sofia's fundraiser, we received 34,899.00 UAH (thirty-four thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to the Fund's current account to pay for the child's treatment and project administration.
In July 2025, we purchased the much-needed Freestyle Libre-2 sensors for Sofia for a total of 32,265.00 UAH (thirty-two thousand two hundred and sixty-five hryvnias, 00 kopecks). We also paid for the administration of the project.
Sofia's health is now stable. The girl is spending the summer at home and preparing for the new school year. She continues to attend her favourite pole dancing classes, which help develop strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and artistry, and she also loves reading adventure books.
Her mother Alla writes to us: ‘Thanks to the support of caring people, we have sensors for a long time. Now that there is round-the-clock monitoring of blood sugar levels, I can sometimes work and leave my daughter with her grandmother.’
Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child's needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help, and the UBB team for their many years of cooperation!
