Makar: the road to freedom of movement
Makar is an incredibly desired child; he is joyful and sociable, expressing himself through emotions and charming sounds that can touch anyone's heart. Although he can't articulate his thoughts in words yet, his soul blossoms when he hears music, singing, and dancing with his parents. His joy knows no bounds, whether he's riding in playful glass elevators at shopping centers or on amusement rides where he can be held by his parents. Makar loves being around people, in crowds, markets, and parks, greeting everyone, especially grandmothers on benches, expressing his excitement with cheerful squeals.
Another passion of his is swimming – in rivers, lakes, or pools; he cannot be pulled out of the water. He feels the ease of movement in the water and can't resist laughter when other kids play around him. His parents jokingly call Makar a real human steamship. Even when lying on the couch, the boy constantly tries to "run" somewhere, revealing his unstoppable desire to move.
In early childhood, Makar gave his parents hope by demonstrating that he could stand on his father's hands like a candle. This impressed them, instilling faith that their son would not only stand but also run, communicate with peers, and amaze with his achievements.
Now, at 7 years old, although he moves only with the help of a wheelchair and cannot sit or walk independently, nor speak or care for himself, his willpower and hope remain strong. Regular rehabilitation courses at neurological centers are crucial for him. During these sessions with specialists, his muscle tone decreases, blood circulation improves, and his movements become more active. Unfortunately, there's a lack of financial resources for his treatment. His father, unable to work due to a heart attack, cares for the child, while only the mother is employed. The family, internally displaced due to possible combat actions, lives in a rented apartment.
Makar, this joyful child, currently needs our help. Let's give him a chance to feel the freedom of movement in his body and the hope that empowers him to face an unknown future without surrendering.
