In the fall, little Anna will start first grade. The child is preparing diligently: she is learning to read, write, and most of all, to count. But not just numbers – the units of insulin she needs to inject for meals. Anna suffers from type I diabetes, and for more than a year now, she has been living on a strict schedule: her meals and insulin injections are planned out to the minute.
“I'm tired of these sugars,” Anna sometimes says in despair. While her peers have the privilege of enjoying a carefree childhood, this little girl has to understand her illness so deeply. However, her life is greatly facilitated by sensors for continuous monitoring of sugar levels – with them, Anna can sometimes go to kindergarten, play with friends, even just eat ice cream – at least a little, with sugar substitutes, the kind she can have.
Unfortunately, the girl's mother is not always able to buy sensors for her daughter on her own. Our foundation has repeatedly helped them raise enough money, and it is thanks to selfless benefactors that Anechka was able to experience the pleasures of an ordinary childhood at least a little. Help the girl not to leave it in the past! Help her to buy sensors again!
