Little Yulia with a strong will

Four years ago, Yulia was diagnosed with S-shaped scoliosis, which required surgery. Yulia spent a year and a half in a basement under shelling in the occupated Nyzhnia Duvanka village, Lugansk region. In April 2023, she and her mother barely escaped from there and are now preparing for surgery. To do this, they need to buy a set of Socore system implants.

Throughout the entire pregnancy, Yulia's future mother Dina was was in the hospital due to the risk of losing the child. But premature birth could not be avoided – the baby was born at 36 weeks. Doctors immediately suspected microcephaly (underdevelopment of the brain) due to the small size of the head. Later the diagnosis was confirmed.

Yulia's development was delayed. She underwent many rehabilitation courses and drug treatment. Yulia can walk and even run, understands spoken speech, speaks in sentences, but indistinctly.

In her native village, Yulia managed to complete two classes. Then, for 1.5 years, the family found itself occupied without access to the Internet. As soon as the opportunity arose and they managed to save money for the leaving, Dina and her daughter returned to their aunt in Kryvyi Rih – they are now renting an apartment not far from her. Yulia studies in the 4th grade of the Kryvyi Rih Lyceum in an inclusive program. A kind, cheerful girl easily finds a common language with children and adults.

In 2019, she began to develop scoliosis. Wearing Chenault's corset and massage did not help. The angle of curvature is very large, the spine compresses all the organs in the left half of the body.

Yulia was admitted to the OKHMATDYT National Hospital in December 2023. She underwent examination and, despite her low weight, there are no contraindications to surgery. Yulia has somatogenic dwarfism – a deficiency of growth hormone, which is why she weighs only 16 kg and is 100 cm tall at 11 years old.

In March, Yulia will begin treatment at the Urology Department of OKHMATDYT and will spend three months undergoing spinal fusion: two weeks in the surgical department and then at home. The surgery is scheduled for June. By then, he needs to buy a set of Socore implants to correct and stabilise his spine.
