Little Denys needs treatment, because time is working relentlessly against him, and every day lost could cost him a chance at development.
Denys was born healthy, but just a few hours after birth, his life changed dramatically: he began having serious breathing difficulties and was rushed to the intensive care unit. What followed were five long days on a ventilator – hovering between life and death, between hope and fear – and then another three weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit, where doctors fought for every breath he took.
Just when it seemed the worst was behind them, his mother noticed that at four months old, her son couldn’t hold his head up, didn’t look at toys, didn’t roll over, and wasn’t developing like other children. Numerous examinations, tests, and waiting confirmed the terrible diagnosis – an unbalanced chromosomal abnormality, hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. But his mother didn’t give up; she believed she could help her son, prepared him for rehabilitation, and sought out opportunities. But fate struck again where it hurt the most – Denys had his first epileptic seizure, and rehabilitation had to be postponed.
"Hospitals, injections, expensive medications, sleepless nights, and constant fear for our child’s life – that’s what our life looks like. But even so, Denys is fighting; today he can already focus his gaze, pick up a toy with his little hand, and smile. For me, these aren’t just moments – they’re little miracles that I cling to with all my heart," says Denys’s mother.
The war forced the family to leave their home, halted his rehabilitation, and took away some of the skills he had already acquired, but it didn’t take away their faith. His mother knows that her son will be able to learn to sit, take his first steps, and say his first words, but without help, this chance may be lost forever.
She is alone in this struggle, without support, without strength, but with boundless love for her child. And her only dream is to one day hear simple words from her son. Please, don’t walk by – help Denys get a chance at life, at movement, at a future. Every hryvnia you donate is a chance for rehabilitation, a step toward his victory, a chance that can change everything!
