Little Dominik and his big world

Two-year-old Dominik is a much-wanted and long-awaited child. The birth was difficult, the baby suffered from hypoxia, and immediately after birth, he was diagnosed with torticollis. From the first days of his life, the boy had a hard time: he was weak, ate poorly, gained weight slowly, and got tired quickly.

The baby's motor development was delayed: Dominik only began to sit and crawl at 10 months, and walked independently at 1 year and 2 months. Even now, the boy gets tired quickly, his muscles remain weak, and it is difficult for him to run and jump like other children his age. He has neurodevelopmental disorders, delayed speech development, dysarthria, and eating disorders.

"The most painful thing for me is his speech development. At 2 years old, Dominik hardly speaks any words and does not try to form sentences. He often does not respond when addressed by name, and it is difficult for him to maintain attention. It seems as if he wants to say something but cannot," says the boy's mother.

A separate and very difficult problem is nutrition. Dominik does not chew food at all. He has significant difficulty swallowing, even plain water. Because of this, he often refuses to eat, and feeding becomes stressful and tearful for both the child and his parents.

"Despite all this, Dominik is a very smart boy. He understands a lot, feels emotions, and reacts sensitively to how people treat him. But he gets really upset when people don't understand him, when he can't talk, jump, or play like other kids. He has serious sensory issues: he won't touch a lot of textures, cries when he hears certain sounds, and is sensitive to light. The world is often too loud, bright, and complicated for him," adds Dominik's mother.

To improve the boy's condition, he needs sessions with specialists at a rehabilitation center.
