Little Artem needs a new shunt system

Little Artem was born prematurely. He was transferred immediately to the intensive care unit where he was placed on a medical ventilator because he had lung problems. After a week of intensive care little Artem was transferred to the department of neonatology where the doctors nursed him. At that time he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and a shunt system was installed. Everything seemed to be all right. The mother and the son were discharged from the hospital. but the shunt system failed. Now Artem needs a new one, but there's no money for it.

2-year-old Artem had more than 10 surgeries. He does not know what a cheerful childhood is because his home is at the hospital. Now the boy is surrounded by the doctors again with their painful and unpleasant procedures. But he wants to go home so much. He wants to live!

Artem was diagnosed with inflammation that caused the shunt dysfunction. The doctors tried to remove the inflammation with medication but it didn’t work to the full extent. Now the shunt system has to be replaced and it must have with a special bactericidal coating. But it is very expensive. The boy’s mom cannot buy them because she had to quit the job and to stay with her son. The boy’s father left the family shortly after he found out about his son’s disease. Since then, the father is not involved in Artem’s life and does not support him.

Artem’s mother wants so much to go for a walk with her son, to bring him to the kindergarten and then to school…and not to bring him in her hands to the manipulation room at the hospital. The women is very tired, her heart aches because of her son. Let’s help this woman in her struggle for Artem’s life.
