Nine-year-old Marichka is a little athlete who loves volleyball. Interestingly, the girl's second passion is reading. Books for her are like doors to other worlds, where you can become a brave princess, a wise traveler, or even a detective. She can sit for hours, immersed in history, and forget about everything in the world.
But for almost three years, Marichka has had one serious “companion” in her life – type 1 diabetes. This means that her body no longer produces insulin, and she needs to constantly monitor her blood sugar levels. To do this, she has to prick her fingers several times a day to measure glucose and give insulin injections. This monitoring does not stop for a minute, even when Marichka is playing volleyball, reading or sleeping. She always has a glucometer and insulin nearby. Sometimes it can be scary, especially when her sugar level suddenly drops or rises. Even at night, her parents have to wake her up so as not to miss a dangerous drop or rise.
Marichka dreams of a life like all her friends, without constant punctures and injections. She just wants to play, run, laugh and not think about the disease. But for now, her life requires constant attention and caution.
To bring some peace back to her childhood and ensure a future without serious complications from diabetes, the girl really needs a modern device for continuous glucose monitoring. Such a device helps control sugar in real time and even warns of critical changes without any punctures. Unfortunately, the family is unable to purchase this monitoring on their own. Help give Marichka a safe childhood!
