Maria from a family of IDPs needs help
A year ago, Maria suffered a misfortune. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The girl spent the night in the intensive care unit. Despair... A child cannot accept and realize this disease. Why her? Why her?
Since childhood, Maria has often suffered from endless sore throats. When she was 3 years old, tonsil and adenoid removal led to a complication - furunculosis. The girl underwent three surgical interventions to remove the boils under general anesthesia. At the age of 6, she had surgery to remove an osteoid osteoma of the lower part of the right fibula.
But she is a very strong, brave and persistent child. In a few days in the hospital, Maria learned how to measure her blood sugar and give insulin injections. She understands that she needs to eat right, but she is still a child who has emotional breakdowns. To make matters worse, her family is an IDP, forced to leave their home in March 2022 and left with nothing. The family has a younger 8-year-old daughter and an elderly 84-year-old grandmother. They are trying to rebuild their lives in another city, but it is very difficult.
Maria is graduating from high school this year. In her free time from studying and treatment, the girl is fond of drawing, she seems to immerse herself in it, escaping from the reality of the present. But everything will be fine, her mother hopes. Today, Maria needs help with her treatment, as her family cannot provide her with everything she needs, including blood sugar meters.
