Mark really wants to say more. Responding to the teacher in class. Calling a friend. Sharing an opinion or simply laughing out loud during a game. For most children, these are ordinary things. But for 10-year-old Mark from Rivne, every word and every movement is the result of long, persistent work.
After a serious accident, the boy found himself in a reality where he had to relearn simple actions almost from scratch. Movement, balance, everyday skills – everything required patience, training and the help of specialists.
But Mark proved to be extremely strong. He does not give up and does not allow difficulties to stop him. He works diligently and stubbornly in class – sometimes longer than even expected of him.
Thanks to previous rehabilitation courses at the Agape Ukraine centre, changes have taken place that give the family great hope. The boy has become more confident in his movements, can endure longer classes, and is better at navigating daily tasks. What was difficult not long ago is gradually becoming possible.
A particularly touching moment for his loved ones was when his first words began to return. They are still quiet, sometimes uncertain, but each one is a small miracle. Mark still often uses gestures, but his speech is gradually coming back, which means that the work is paying off.
The boy is already back at school. He tries very hard to keep up with his classmates, listens attentively to his teachers and enjoys every new task. His friends support him and dream of the moment when Mark will be able to talk and play with them easily.
But to achieve this, the road to recovery must continue. Mark's right arm still has limited function, he needs support when walking, and his speech still requires active work with specialists. The next course of rehabilitation will help strengthen his movements, develop his speech, and make the boy more independent.
The cost of such a course is 76,000 hryvnias, and the family is unable to raise this amount on their own. However, Mark has already proven that he is ready to fight for his future. Now he really needs our support. Every bit of help is another step towards the day when Mark will be able to speak confidently, move freely, and live a normal childhood life.
Together, we can help make that day come sooner!
