Maria wants to hear her relatives

Detailed information is in the project blog and in the "Documentation" section. Thanks to everyone who supported the girl! Maria was born with a sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) of the 4th degree. This girl has heard neither of her parents’voice. When she was only 5 months old her parents noticed that she did not respond to their voices as well as the other sounds. They went to the clinic and the diagnosis appeared to be shocking. Maria had some special hearing aids installed but even having them she sometimes responds only to some loud noise.

Maria's family moved from Donetsk, Ukraine to Odesa, Ukraine. Nowadays the girl isbeing taken care bythe localaudiologist. Masha was put in line for getting the cochlear implantation. Thisoperationcan be carried out free of charge under the state financing program. According to tosome of theconservative estimates, Maria has toqueue for about6 years. By this time, the child will havetheirreversible processesstarted. Some of the specialists recommend thecochlear implantation beingdone before the child turns5. If not to do it on time, then Maria may stay in the world of silence forever.

In this regard, her parents decided to go to a private clinic. Nowadays, Maria can have the needed operation in the Kiev Infoton Center, however, it is necessary to acquire the cochlear implant itself. It costs 858.000UAH. This is the price for Maria’s ability to hear. Having this amount of money, her parents can help her to get into the world of sounds. This is how much the quality of Maria’s entire future lifecosts.
