Katia is a first-grade student. Despite the fact that the girl is very active and cheerful, she has an incurable disease – type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis was made in the intensive care unit, where the girl was admitted in a serious condition. Four months have passed since then. Fortunately, Katia is now at home, but her usual way of life is a thing of the past.
Now the girl is studying remotely. Due to the need for round-the-clock care, almost all of her day is spent at home with her mother or grandmother. She understands that it is important to control her sugar levels, and at the age of six she learned to use a glucometer on her own. At the same time, Katia dreams of returning to her normal lifestyle: going to school, playing the piano at concerts again, and dancing in her dance group. She also wants to avoid piercing her fingers day and night.
Sugar can be monitored in two ways: by puncturing the fingers with a glucose meter lancet 15-25 times a day or by using a monitoring sensor that will display the readings on the phone in real time. But every rose has its thorns: this device is valid for two weeks, and its cost is the amount of monthly social assistance from the state for a child with a disability. For a mother raising Katia and her brother on her own, such expenses are unbearable.
Now, in addition to diabetes, doctors suspect that the girl has asthma and refer her to OKHMATDYT to clarify the diagnosis. The daily cost of medicines is growing, and the state provides only insulin for free. But the sensor is not a whim. It's not just about returning to favorite activities and peers: the device will make it possible not to sacrifice sleep, which is crucial for the development of such a young child, because Katia will no longer have to wake up for sugar measurements, as she does now – an alarm in the app on her phone will let her know when she needs to take dextrose or insulin. Help your child return to school, friends, hobbies and good dreams!
