Matviy remains smiling

The most hellish days in the life of Matviy and his mother came last summer, when, after a sugar test, Matviy was taken to the Zakarpattia Regional Hospital and diagnosed with diabetes. The previously playful and cheerful boy suddenly became lethargic, constantly thirsty and frequently visited the toilet. It was good that his mother decided to have Matviy's tests done in time. In the hospital, the boy spent three days under intravenous drips, for the first time without his mother. Then another three weeks of stabilization in the children's department. There, his mother was taught how to inject insulin, monitor sugar levels and count bread units.  

“It's so hard to learn to live with all this, to change your lifestyle, to read all the labels on food and count carbohydrates,” Matviy's mother does not wish it on even her worst enemy. If you think about the consequences of the disease for your child's life, it is hard and painful.

But Matviy remains smiling and cheerful. Although the boy realizes that he is not like all the children around him. And he can neither eat nor do many things. The mother transferred her son to another school, where he was very lucky to have a teacher and classmates who support him in everything. At the new school, he has made new friends with whom he spends a lot of time and attends a soccer team. He does not want to and cannot give up. Matviy has to be strong, no matter what.

His fingers are too small to suffer from constant punctures. He needs help, though, to give them a little rest and protect them. This can be done by continuous glucose monitoring sensors, which his mother does not have the money for.
