Medical equipment for elderly homes affected by the war
Lonely elderly people living in nursing homes in the war-affected regions of Ukraine in a critical situation now. During the occupation and active hostilities, these people were blocked in their cities. It is almost impossible to evacuate them, because most of the residents of the houses have limited mobility or bedridden. The supply of vital medicines, food and hygiene products is interrupted or completely blocked. Moreover, because of war the numbers of residents increased, because some old people lost their homes and relatives.
The mental and physical strain caused by the war led to a deterioration in the health of elderly people, an increase in cardiovascular disease and lots of strokes. Therefore, the number of bedridden and less mobile patients increased but the issue of caring for bedridden people became much more complicated during the war.
For today, at least third of residents of nursing homes in occupied and de-occupied regions are bedridden people.
Charitable foundation "Let's Help" which has been helping lonely elderly people for 6 years and takes care of 127 elderly homes in Ukraine aims to help elderly homes most affected by the war. Institutions for the elderly need special medical equipment for the movement of people with limited mobility and the care of bedridden patient. Such equipment will help both the elderly and the staff of homes to have a more dignified life.
We would like to start from elderly homes in de-occupied Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions, where about 2 thousand people live. At dobro.ua we collect funds for the purchase of wheelchairs, walkers and toilet chairs for the wards of these geriatric boarding houses.
