MIBG for Vania

The aim of the MIBG for Vanya project was to raise funds for Ovechko Ivan for a MIBG scan at the Italian Papa Giovanni XXIII clinic in Bergamo. Vanya has been treating neuroblastoma at the National Cancer Institute for three years now. With this diagnosis, the most accurate examination to detect affected cells is MIBG, which, unfortunately, is not performed in Ukraine. Carrying out this scan in Italy became an opportunity for the baby to receive appropriate therapy in time. In September 2017, a survey conducted on the platform raised funds on time and found that the tumor in Vanya was operable. After surgery and radiation therapy, the results of the scan abroad helped Ukrainian doctors to decide on stem cell autotransplantation and radiation therapy. And then, when Vanya completed all the prescribed therapies, and the last examination was to confirm the disappearance of the tumor, a pandemic began, the borders were closed. There is no such study in our country. The parents turned to the fund for help in paying the bill. The family is low-income, all the savings have already been spent on basic treatment. Our foundation has searched for clinics that are ready to conduct examinations at an adequate cost. Such a clinic turned out to be the Italian children's hospital "Papa Giovanni XXIII" in Bergamo. Thanks to the placement of the project on the platform "UBB" on June 9, 2021 passed the survey. Also, additional drugs were purchased at the expense of the project, namely roacutan, which is prescribed according to the treatment protocol.
