MIBG therapy for Liliia! Stage 2

Liliia is too small to realize what is happening to her. Mom somehow tries to explain why she has to endure painful injections or take bitter "magic" pills. The girl was hospitalized for almost a year before she completed a treatment protocol. In June Liliia underwent MIBG scanning in Italy. We raised funds for it here on UBB. Unfortunately, the result was not comforting as the remnants of the tumor were detected.

The Ukrainian doctors can offer more chemotherapy cycles of higher level but it doesn’t guarantee that the tumor will not grow.

The only chance is to have MIBG therapy, that’s a treatment with doses of radioactive iodine. European clinics perform such a therapy successfully but in Ukraine we don’t have hospitals with such facilities. The Italian clinic in Bergamo is ready to accept Lily for treatment and they sent an estimate of about 8000 euros. This amount gives a chance for the little girl Lillia to recover… During the year of treatment the family has spent all their savings and the salaries in the village are too small to collect the required amount.

Liliia fell ill in December 2015. Her mom noticed that she was pale, lost appetite and had fever. The little girl was taken to the doctor and at the first examination a tumor located in the retroperitoneal space was detected. Liliia was immediately hospitalized to the local hospital. Then the girl was sent to the National Cancer Institute for further therapies and an autotransplantation. The final step in the treatment process should be MIBG therapy that the Italian doctors will perform if the family has money to pay the bill.
