A mine-bakery for the homeless

Have you ever thought about how people live below the line of survival, rejected by society and, often, even the closest relatives? People who are left alone with problems that are not able to solve them independently for various reasons, most often - because of physical or mental limitations, heavy dependencies, etc. Such disadvantaged people can survive and learn to work independently most often – only with the help of those who are not indifferent, those who will not let them die. It is about the Center for social and preventive care and a charity canteen, which operates with it.

Have you ever thought about how people live below the line of survival, rejected by society and, often, even the closest relatives? People who are left alone with problems that are not able to solve them independently for various reasons, most often - because of physical or mental limitations, heavy dependencies, etc. Such disadvantaged people can survive and learn to work independently most often – only with the help of those who are not indifferent, those who will not let them die. It is about the Center for social and preventive care and a charity canteen, which operates with it.

The Center has found shelter for women who have suffered from domestic violence, including women with young children, as well as women and young people who are rehabilitated as dependent on alcohol and drugs. These people want to change their lives and be useful to society. And at the Center's Charity canteens, about 25 people can eat every day, are not able to support themselves, since they have severe disabilities or simply their meager pension is not enough to buy a piece of bread every day, not to mention other needs. Therefore, this Charity canteen for them is the only source of survival. They are mostly lonely people of advanced age who are in poverty, often with a disability, who have no help from others.

The center is supported by donations and does not have regular sources of funding. Judging by the ever-increasing prices for basic products, primarily bread, it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide food for people in the Center. That is why the idea arose of the need to purchase equipment for a mini-bakery, which will solve the most acute issue - food, above all - women with children and the needy, who eat in the Charity canteen.

It is very difficult today, despite the systematic rise in the price of the staple food, bread, to ensure the survival of these people, since most of them are homeless, also those who have lost contact with their relatives, have become useless to anyone, some of them have lost their working capacity due to diseases and disabilities. Funds received as donations from concerned citizens for the maintenance of the Center are sorely lacking for the most basic things, including food.

In addition, the work of the wards in the mini-bakery will be an excellent means of occupational therapy, since one of the conditions for staying at the Center for Social Preventive Aid is labor, obtaining practical skills for living outside the Center after the end of the rehabilitation period. The project will have a long-term effect – self-sustaining itself with bread by the residents of the Center, using the purchased equipment for 8-10 years, which will significantly reduce the costs of the Center, and will allow the savings to be spent on the rehabilitation and socialization of the wards.

It is very important that some of the products will be given to the charity canteen for the homeless, thereby helping other disadvantaged and learning to empathize and help those who are even more impoverished. Therefore, we appeal to you, everyone who is not indifferent to the fate of our poor and vulnerable neighbors, to join in helping to raise funds for the purchase of the minimum set of necessary equipment to give them a chance to survive in these difficult times. Remember that the desire to do good is inherent in each of us from birth, so let's look around – those who really need our help are close by, and today we have such a wonderful opportunity to help those who are in trouble.
