Anya was born in a small village in the Sumy region. When she was two years old, her parents noticed that she did not respond to sounds. Examinations by doctors in Kyiv confirmed a severe diagnosis – grade V hearing loss (bilateral severe sensorineural hearing impairment). The family did everything they could: they purchased hearing aids and enrolled Anya in a specialized school in the city of Lebedyn. Thanks to the dedicated work of teachers and the girl’s own determination, Anya learned to speak. It was a huge victory for the entire family.
But the war changed everything.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Anya was at school, and due to hostilities her family could not take her home right away. Stress and prolonged exposure to dangerous conditions led to a critical deterioration of her hearing.
Currently, Anya’s hearing loss exceeds 100 decibels. For comparison, normal conversation is about 50–60 dB, while levels above 90–100 dB mean that a person cannot perceive speech without specialized technical devices. The hearing aids Anya has now are outdated and no longer effective. In order for her to hear at least some sounds again, she needs modern, powerful hearing aids carefully selected according to her hearing levels.
Anya is a bright and cheerful child. She loves singing, dancing, spinning in front of the mirror, playing sports, spending time with friends, and learning. She dreams of hearing again – the voices of her loved ones, music, and the world around her.
Because of the war, the family was forced to leave their home and start life from scratch in a new place. They do not have the means to raise the funds for expensive hearing aids on their own.
Every contribution will help Anya hear the world again, continue to develop, and live a full life. Your support truly matters.
