Little Maria's dream

Mom and dad were looking forward to the birth of their daughter, but at 29 weeks of pregnancy, mom had a hemorrhagic stroke. Maria was born prematurely weighing 1,380 grams. The girl began her life on a ventilator, under which she spent 2.5 months. After many examinations and procedures, the doctors established the main diagnosis – "multiple congenital malformations, congenital heart defects, hypoplasia of the corpus callosum, cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, strabismus and shortening of the right limb by 2 cm". But parental faith and love work wonders.

The family persevered through the long path of their daughter's rehabilitation and achieved significant success. At the age of 6.5, Mariyka learned to crawl, sit upright and started talking. Now the girl has already graduated from the 4th grade of a general education school on a home-based basis. Despite severe hand spasticity, she has learned to eat and even write on her own. Maria loves to swim, play computer games, watch movies and read, and has made a big breakthrough in her development. But due to her heart defect, the girl's rehabilitation was limited.

In February 2022, Mariyka underwent heart surgery, and in 2023 both of her legs were operated on. Now Mariya is in dire need of support and rehabilitation. She has the ability to get back on her feet and move independently, she just needs help, because the family's financial situation has deteriorated significantly since the outbreak of full-scale war. Only the father works in the family, and the mother takes care of Mariya. The parents are asking for help from all concerned people, because each hryvnia donated brings the girl closer to recovery, to her sincere childhood dream – to walk on her own!
