How much is the life of a born child? And how much does the life of a child with congenital pathologies cost? She's priceless! But it completely depends on the material support of the hospital and the level of professionalism of the doctors. After all, the salvation of children who were born with congenital pathologies of varying complexity is a painstaking work of a team of doctors and a great faith of parents for the best. This project is aimed at saving the little patients of the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, namely: the purchase of reagent blocks and electrodes for a blood gas analyzer. Without them, saving children is simply impossible!

Every year more than 1200 children are treated in intensive care units (intensive care units). All these patients require frequent and rapid monitoring of laboratory parameters, which are provided with expensive equipment and proper skill of the staff of the clinical laboratory department. One of the important laboratory studies is the determination of blood gas composition and acid-base balance. Blood is the environment where pH control is very important, as it participates in many processes and performs many functions. Any change in the acid-base ratio can lead to undesirable consequences. It is important to understand that blood is a fairly good indicator by which you can find out about the state of tissues in which structural or functional disorders have arisen. This analysis is especially relevant for patients undergoing mechanical ventilation of the lungs, as well as for patients with microcirculation disorders. With the help of the analyzer in the intensive care unit, this study is carried out in just a few seconds, which is extremely important at the time of examining the child's condition.

To date, the full-fledged work of the clinical laboratory of the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, which consists of: neonatal resuscitation, general resuscitation and cardiac surgery resuscitation, directly depends on the availability of the EasyStat reagent unit and electrodes. With just one reagent unit, approximately 90 analyzes can be performed over a 30-day period, after which this reagent unit must be replaced. And so month after month ...

At the beginning of March, technical malfunctions were found in the work of the blood gas analyzer, which led to further diagnostics of the device. As a result, the need to replace two parts in the equipment was identified: the PCO2 and PO2 electrode. This routine repair became a serious test for the staff of the clinical laboratory, so the supplier company provided the hospital with the parts on loan, but they must be paid in the near future.

Our goal is to purchase a quarterly supply of consumables to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the clinical laboratory. The implementation of the project will save more than a dozen small lives of the Odessa region.

Be on guard for the health of children with us!
