Every year, with the onset of the cold season, homeless people find themselves on the brink of survival. This year, due to the threat of a continuation of the lockdown and the re-introduction of strict quarantine measures, homeless people have lost the opportunity to receive help - food from ordinary citizens and institutions. Some of the homeless people had to decide whether to buy a mask in order to be able to use transport or buy themselves food for the day for the same amount of money. Now, with the advent of cold weather, there is a real danger of a rapid increase in mortality among the homeless due to the constant lack of food and the increased difficulty of access to it. This is a direct threat to life and health.

On January 24, a campaign was posted on the website dobro.ua to raise funds for emergency local assistance to homeless people on the brink of survival. The collected funds in the amount of UAH 115,050.00 were used to purchase 600 ready-made meals in packages for distribution within 4 weeks. This lunch contains three dishes: red borsch with meat, buckwheat with meat, filled pastries and bread. The total cost of the project, together with the costs of transport, wages and services provided and works and administrative costs (including banking services) is 115,050.00 UAH. The distribution of meals took place at two points in Kiev - in Podil and Darnitsa, every Friday. Twenty volunteers were recruited to help distribute hot food at the distribution points, as well as to monitor the observance of the distance. Each stage of the project was attended by the director of organisation, communication and project managers. In general, thanks to donations, 600 people were fed for 4 weeks in two districts of Kiev - in Podol and Darnytskyi district. Thanks to this project, we partially satisfied the basic food needs of the homeless during the cold season, thereby reducing the mortality rate among them. In general, funds were used in the amount of UAH 115,049.87.
