For a child, hunger is far more than an empty stomach. It means a weakened immune system, where even a common cold can lead to complications. It leads to stunted growth, apathy, and a loss of concentration and interest in the world. We see this in the children who come to our Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation for Children Affected by War. Their bodies are frail, and the world seems indifferent.
Our mission is to help these children heal, and proper nutrition is a cornerstone of their recovery. For many, the meals here are a revelation. They try dishes and ingredients for the very first time, sharing their discoveries with excitement: examining broccoli with curiosity or learning that pumpkin porridge can be so sweet and delicious. This is part of the therapy: creating new positive associations with food, broadening their horizons, and restoring their trust in a world that can be generous and diverse.
Currently, 12 children live at our Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation in Kyiv, slowly but surely on their path to recovery. Their bodies desperately need diverse, nutritious food to make up for the hardships they've endured. Proper nutrition is the foundation we build upon: it restores physical health, provides strength for learning and play, and builds resilience to stress. Only when a child is well-nourished, when their body receives essential vitamins and minerals, can they truly begin to learn and heal psychologically.
Your support for our project will allow us to purchase vital groceries, cover the salary of our dedicated cook, and ensure the children receive healthy, balanced meals. Give these children a chance to grow, develop, and discover the taste of a happy life. Every full plate is a building block in the solid foundation of their future.
