The most important wish for Mariika is to walk. 2

Mariika is already familiar to many of you – this is her fifth fundraiser on the platform. And behind each of them is not just a number, but a long journey of a little girl moving toward her biggest dream  to walk.

Thanks to your support, today Mariika can speak, stand without support, walk with crutches, and is even trying to take steps on her own.

In April 2021, Mariika was diagnosed with a large brain tumor – medulloblastoma. Doctors performed a complex 8-hour surgery. After it, she could neither move nor speak. What followed were months of treatment: chemotherapy at the National Cancer Institute, radiation therapy in Kropyvnytskyi, and maintenance chemo. There were also constant blood transfusions and critically low test results.

And then a long rehabilitation journey.

Today, Mariika is learning to live again: she draws, learns poems, dreams of going back to school. And most of all she dreams of walking.

She is making good progress, and it is very important to keep moving forward.

Mariika needs to continue her rehabilitation course, which costs 433,366 UAH. For her mother, who is raising her alone, this amount is overwhelming.
