Ten-year-old Maksym is a very independent boy who excels academically. He is also passionate about English and mathematics, and is trying his hand at blogging. Local residents call him the young blogger and hold him in great affection, because he is a sincere, open, and always cheerful boy.

At the age of five, Maksym was unexpectedly given a difficult diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. This autoimmune disease, which remains incurable to this day, requires continuous blood sugar monitoring, carefully balanced nutrition with constant control of protein, fat, and especially carbohydrate proportions, a life lived on schedule with appropriate physical activity to prevent critically low or high blood sugar levels, as well as support for gastrointestinal function and metabolism, and much more.

Maksym lives with his grandmother, who takes care of him in a safer location in Ukraine. Maksym's mother is a servicewoman, taking part in the defense of our country on the most dangerous sections of the front. She is in constant contact with her son and his grandmother in order to respond promptly to any questions or concerns about Maksymchyk's health. It is extraordinarily difficult to be far from your child – especially when that child needs not only a mother's attention and love, but also help in daily life with an illness. But there are several circumstances that keep his mother there, driven not only by the call of her heart. Maksym's parents are separated, his father plays no part in the child's life, and so all financial responsibility falls on his mother.

In September Maksym will start school – already in 5th grade. For the previous four years he studied at home due to his health condition. Because Maksym's blood sugar is extremely unstable with frequent sharp changes, the family switched to using continuous glucose monitoring sensors, which greatly helps prevent the consequences of hypo- or hyperglycemic episodes. But monitoring is expensive and requires constant replacement.

We ask you to support Maksym in providing the necessary sensors, which will help him monitor his glucose levels every day, respond to blood sugar changes in time, and feel more protected. Your help is the chance to give Maksym more safety, more peace of mind, and the opportunity to live a full childhood life without focusing on his illness every single minute.
