Six-year-old Mariika needs continued rehabilitation, but her family has already exhausted all their savings.
Since birth, the girl's life has been a struggle. After she was born, her condition was so serious that she was immediately taken to intensive care. Then there were seizures, tube feeding, and six days in the intensive care unit. "Severe hypoxic-ischemic damage to the central nervous system, convulsive syndrome, cardiopathy, jaundice," the doctors said.
At that time, Mariika did not cry, she only grimaced in pain and was afraid of any noise. She could not move her arms and legs, and her gaze disappeared, looking upward. When the girl turned one month old, she began having epileptic seizures, at three months she developed farsightedness, and at seven months she developed cerebral palsy.
The treatment that doctors recommend on a regular basis is helping Mariika. She can now confidently support herself on her hands while lying on her stomach, hold her head up longer, and even sit with support. Her hands have become more relaxed. Mariika is pronouncing new sounds, focusing on objects for longer, and beginning to show understanding of spoken language (although she does not always respond yet).
We cannot stop now; rehabilitation must continue. Mariika has a chance for a better life, but she cannot do it without our help.
Help Mariika undergo rehabilitation and take another step towards her childhood!
