This is a boy with a rare name, Zlatozar. He was born in the Dnipro city, and his birth was complicated. Doctors assumed that his heart would not withstand natural childbirth. But the boy survived. And he grew up like all his peers. He had friends and lived tirelessly. Until misfortune struck – the boy was diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes. Doctors said that diabetes could have been caused by stress. With the disease, Zlat lost a lot of weight, became tired, and people started making fun of him. He used to love walking with friends, but now he spends more time at home and has taken up cooking. Over the past year, Zlat has been in intensive care 10 times due to diet violations. He was used to eating at any time, but now he has to eat only three times a day. It was difficult for him. He even had to undergo psychotherapy.

The boy got hamsters twice, but they did not live long. When they died, Zlat suffered greatly. Now he dreams of having a large parrot. Zlat lives with his mother and grandmother; his father died of cancer when his son was 5 months old. The boy's mother does not work; she lost her health due to her son's illness. This family also includes a grandmother who is almost blind. They live on government assistance and a pension. The older son helps out the most.

Modern monitoring sensors are not available to the family. Constant insulin injections have caused Zlat to develop lumps. The boy has not yet fully adjusted to life with diabetes and needs help.
