Let the heart keeps beating

The project “Let the heart keeps beating”, which has been posted on the UBB portal and implemented successfully, is being updated. Oxygen sensors for new-born babies were so essential and necessary material that the amount which has already been purchased will be enough only until the end of February! And we announce “spring call”: call to support new collection of money for the purchase of sensors in “Okhmatdet”!

If a baby is born severely premature, its chances for life depend on many outside factors. To save these little lives, we are asking all for financial support to purchase special equipment. It is vital to monitor constantly the pulse of a premature baby, because the pulse is very weak. Regular medical equipment is not appropriate for such patients. Special extra-sensitive sensors are required  to control pulse.

Supporting delivery of oxygen to the tissues and blood is important. Monitoring can be conducted in two ways: the first one – taking blood (but there is a danger of infection, besides the cardiovascular system is not developed in premature babies, thats why this method is dangerous); the second one – sensors control over blood oxygen saturation. But this type of sensor works a day or two: it quickly goes done. Therefore, the separation of premature babies requires such sensors constantly. Without them the care for premature babies is too complicated and gives a little chance of their survival.

One sensor costs 250 UAH and at least 40 ones are needed per month. The clinic and parents are not always able to pay for expensive treatment. Let’s all together give babies a chance for life.

Due to that fact that hospitals require these sensors constantly, CF “Svichado” continues to collect money on them and publishes new project on the UBB portal – “Let the heart keeps beating” with aim to help clinic “Okhmatdet” and families which are in need of our support.
