A new kidney is a new life!

UPD: the project fee has been restored. Details in the project blog. We were looking forward to our second baby and could not imagine what we would have to face soon. Our baby was prematurely born at 28th week and weighed 1140 grams. Our son Egor was staying in the intensive care unit for two months and then two more months at the neonatal pathology department. Egor had to face a lot – artificial ventilation, a cuvette and many more challenges. Our newborn son was also diagnosed with kidney dysplasia.

Up to four months the kidneys could more or less perform their functions but soon Egor had to be rushed by plane to Ohkmatdyt clinic in Kyiv. Our child has undergone three surgeries for inserting peritoneal dialysis catheter. Egor has to be on dialysis six times a day. The procedure is carried out through a catheter inserted into his belly. Just imagine that every single morning from 9.00 and then every 3 hours Egor has injected a solution that absorbs toxins, creatines, and other harmful substances. Our boy is a real warrior! Even though dialysis is very important, it has also a negative impact on Egor’s health. For instance, dialysis washes away calcium, disturbs protein metabolism and, as a result, the child inhibits his development (slow weight gain).

Now the boy needs to do kidney transplantation, which is planned to be carried out in Italia, the amount of the operation is €85 000. At UBB, we collect some of the funds. We put all our hopes on transplantation! Egorchik will get a chance to live and will be able to catch up with the development of his peers. And now we slowly gain weight (because of the operation the weight of the boy should be more than 10 kg) and collect the necessary amount for the operation. This is our only chance!
