New Year – a year of new hopes

The aim of the project is to buy Christmas gift sets for 300 children, who are in a very difficult financial situation. It would seem that this is not the most important things, but the purchasing of Christmas gifts is a real problem for those families who barely managed to escape from the ATO zone, lost their homes, without any hope for a speedy return. Let's help them to overcome all these, because it's a big deal for even very young hearts that blaze in their families.

After the annexation of the Crimea by Russia and military operations in the East of Ukraine, many displaced families appeared in Odessa and Odessa region. They have a lot of problems to solve many institutions that try to do it: public authorities, local governments, non-governmental organizations. But the main needs of these people is a need of socialization.

One of the most vulnerable populations affected by the humanitarian problems in the country, have become internally displaced children, and children with special needs. In spring 2014 CF "Caritas Odesa UGCC" regularly visited several schools in Odesa and Zatoka, where the children from institutions of the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine were dislocated. They're regularly supplied to these children hygiene, hold general meetings.

Before the 1st of September СF "Caritas Odesa UGCC" organized campaign "Collect school bag", which aim was to help in the preparation for school children of immigrants from the East, which this year will sit at desks in schools in Odesa.

In October, Caritas started new project assisting internally displaced people from the Crimea and eastern regions of Ukraine. To date, the project's created for 550 families, for which monthly material assistance (housing and food) is for more than 200 000 UAH.

The target group of the project "New Year – a year of new hopes" were children from displaced families who're the last six months under the care of workers and volunteers of CF "Caritas Odesa UGCC". During the holiday season, most of them will be deprived of this festive atmosphere and the usual gifts for children. But together we can give children a real holiday feeling and family comfort.
