Twice IDP Oksana Korosteleva met a full-scale invasion in Mariupol. Oksana and her granddaughter stayed in the basement for 2 weeks until a volunteer took them to Mangush in his car. After recovering from the horror, it turned out that Oksana had not only sustained a concussion from a shell that exploded nearby, but also a fracture. Subsequently, the woman began to lose her eyesight rapidly.
In accordance with the agreement No. 21 on cooperation between the CO ICF ‘Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace’ and the Charity Operator of the Charity Fund ‘Pomogayem’ dated 31.08.2020 and the additional agreement No. 21.239 dated 06.10.2023, the project ‘Oksana from Mariupol is losing her sight’ was posted on the dobro.ua website to attract charitable donations to pay for treatment for Oksana Korostelova.
Subsequently, for the purchase of the drug ‘Aylia’ for Oksana's injections, we sent a request to transfer part of the funds raised - UAH 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand hryvnias, 00 kopecks), which was done according to letter No. 312 of 25.10.2023. In the same month, we spent the transferred funds on the purchase of medicines for Oksana and continued to raise funds on the dobro.ua website.
When the entire amount needed to pay for the woman's treatment was collected on two information platforms: CO ICF ‘Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace’ and CF ‘Pomogayem’, we asked to close the collection, reduce the amount of the project on dobro. ua to the actual amount of UAH 52,297.00 (fifty-two thousand two hundred and ninety-seven hryvnias and 00 kopecks), and to transfer UAH 37,297.00 (thirty-seven thousand two hundred and ninety-seven hryvnias and 00 kopecks) to our bank account to pay for the woman's treatment, which was done according to letter No. 89 of 24.02.2025.
In February and March of this year, we purchased much-needed injections for Oksana to restore her eyesight at a total cost of UAH 34,682.15 (thirty-four thousand six hundred and eighty-two hryvnias, 15 kopecks), and paid for the project administration.
In late winter, Oksana had a consultation with a professor at the Institute of Eye Microsurgery in Kyiv. The surgeon informed her that the planned eye surgery would not be as effective as previously thought, as the case was very complicated and non-standard. Therefore, the doctor prescribed the introduction of an implant in both eyes with a certain interval: the drug ‘Ozurdex’. After that, in some time, he will have to examine the woman and refer her for removal of both cataracts.
So far, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace have been spent on the woman's needs.
We sincerely thank the donors and partners of dobro.ua for their help, and the UBB team for their long-term cooperation!
