Operation for smooth gait!
Twins Oleksii and Liza were born prematurely. The babies spent the first two weeks of their lives in the intensive care unit on a ventilator. After some time, Lisa recovered. However, Oleksii developed sepsis - a bacterial infection of the blood and fungal osteomyelitis of the bone of the left leg. Only three months later, all infections were overcome and the twins were finally at home.
It seemed that all troubles were finally over, but seven months later, Oleksii started vomiting blood. The baby was urgently operated on and the spleen was removed. The diagnosis was disappointing – "portal hypertension". Later, another complex operation was performed, which made it possible to stabilize Oleksii's condition. Now the boy is constantly taking medicine to support his liver.
The next test for Oleksii happened two years ago when the boy began to limp. The doctors assumed that these were the consequences of the transferred osteomyelitis. Another examination after some time revealed that the left leg was already 2 cm shorter than the right. The doctors recommended a surgical intervention - epiphysiodesis. This is a low-traumatic intervention, during which a titanium plate will be installed, which will temporarily block the growth zone of the healthy leg. When Oleksii's two legs are the same length, the plate will be removed.
The operation is planned for the next few days. Taking into account the cost of the titanium plate, it will cost 36 thousand hryvnias. We agreed with the clinic to postpone the payment until October 31. Please support Oleksiy!
We plan to collect part of the funds on the dobro.ua platform.
