A special childhood during the war

A year of war forever changed the peaceful childhood of our children into a frontline, evacuation and temporary one. In darkness and danger, losing their favorite things, clinging to their mothers' hands, they slowly got used to trusting new people, enjoying silence, and putting their most precious treasures in a small backpack that is always with them. 

The experience of war is extremely stressful for any child, and for kids with special needs and their parents it is many times more difficult. Children with ASD (autism spectrum disorders) suffer greatly from the loss of their usual routine and changes in their familiar environment. The reaction to such stress can be the loss of previously acquired skills (speech, self-care) and deterioration of behavior. The termination of classes with specialized specialists (behavioral therapist, speech therapist) also has a negative impact, as it impairs the child's development. 

Andriy's family was not evacuated. He survived this year in his native Kyiv. The centers for special children were closed. Every day, his mother selflessly tried to practice her forgotten skills on her own. Time passed, but without specialists, Andriy was getting worse. The boy developed self-aggression, protest, crying and pain. After a long search for support that Andriy could get used to, it was the specialists of the International Center for Rehabilitation and Neurophysiology who began to revive Andriy's education hour by hour. 

Andriy's mother is raising three children on her own, so she really needs our help. Andriy needs 13,500 UAH to complete the correctional course. Plans have been drawn up, each correctional lesson has been prescribed – the path to recovery, return to a happy childhood and faith in the future Andriy will return to his normal childhood again, step by step, with the help of hundreds of sincere hearts of our tireless benefactors, thanks to each of us.
