Liza is a very sunny and friendly girl. Despite her illness Liza is an optimist and she believes in her complete recovery. Otherwise it cannot be explained that all the functions of Liza’s brain restored almost immediately after the surgery aimed at removing the tumor. If you do not see the scar on her head, it’s hard to believe that a few months ago the girl could not even walk and talk...
Now Lisa reads history books, paints and takes part eagerly in workshops held by volunteers. The most important thing for the girl now is not to interrupt treatment and to complete all required therapies with the drug Temodal. Temodal is a special chemotherapy drug that affects well brain tumors. Before it was provided by the state but in April the department ran out of its supplies and nobody knows when it will be delivered. But Liza doesn’t have time to wait because the tumor may begin to grow again. The cost of the therapy is more than 15 000 UAH.
Thanks to donors who have supported a girl on the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, Lisa began the first block of the last treatment. Now the girl has to start and finish the course of treatment in time.
Liza fell ill last summer. The first symptoms of the tumor were constant nausea, loss of coordination and severe headache. The doctors examined the girl and as a result of MRI a tumor in the head was detected. Immediately the father brought his daughter to the Institute of Neurosurgery in Kyiv. There the tumor was removed surgically and the girl was prescribed with high dose chemotherapy that one could receive only at the National Cancer Institute. Liza has finished the cycle of radiotherapy and now has to start a cycle with Temodal. The parents don’t have money to buy these drugs and they cannot find the necessary amount any more. The mother asks to help save her only daughter.
Liza comes from a poor family. Her mother is an ordinary teacher at school, the father had to quit his job to be always close to his only daughter. Their only hope is help from people who are not indifferent. Then Liza will finish treatment and return to her hometown.
