The first-grader needs eye surgery.

Oleksii is from a large family. He is the eighth child, and Tatiana and Igor's parents have  9 children. Two of them are adults and live separately. Oleksiyko was born in the maternity hospital of Myronivka Central Hospital, but on the 4th day after his birth he was admitted to the Department of Pathology of Newborn Children at the  Hospital in Bila Tserkva №2. The child was diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic-metabolic encephalopathy, treated and discharged on day 10.

And this year the boy is already going to the first grade. And there is a big obstacle. In June, during a medical examination, Oleksii was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and strabismus. What he sees poorly, his parents noticed from a very early age, when he began to look at toys and pictures. "He averted his eyes and leaned low over the pictures", says his mother. "I hoped that over the years it will pass. But it didn't work out".

The boy was sent to Kyiv to "OKHMATDIT", where he underwent the necessary additional examination. Specialists of the ophthalmology department confirmed the diagnosis. Unfortunately, there are currently no drugs to treat cataracts, so the only way to get rid of this ophthalmic disease is surgery. And   Oleksii's situation is no exception. The disease is progressing and should be stopped as soon as possible. The boy needs to replace the crystals on both eyes, alternately. The ophthalmological operation is planned to be performed in the capital's "OKHMATDIT", in the Center of eye microsurgery.

Oleksiyko loves to walk with children, and can be alone for a long time when putting together puzzles or a designer. He loves to cut and make applications. "He likes to ride a bike," says Oleksiy's mother. "Аlthough I'm worried about him because he can't see like other children". The boy lives with his parents in Kyiv region. His mother is a housewife, my father works as a locksmith in a locomotive depot in Myronivka, they run a small farm.

Now the most important thing is to operate on the eye so that the boy does not lose his sight. "Our total income is not always enough for a month", says the mother. "We do not have the money to do and pay for treatment, the operation is very expensive, cataracts in both eyes. That's why we returned to the charity with help".  Please, support Oleksii!
