Diapers and diapers for the elderly

The lives of people with limited mobility or who are bedridden are full of quiet but painful challenges. For many people, things that seem mundane and simple - making a bed, changing underwear or a diaper - turn into a real struggle. Every little thing - cutting fabric, putting oilcloth, washing reusable clothes - takes not only their time and energy, but also a piece of dignity. For those whose lives are limited to four walls and a bed, even the simplest support, such as diapers or nappies, is not just a necessity, but a ray of warmth and care in their world.

Every month, each of them needs about 60 diapers - a small number that hides great difficulties. Among those we are trying to support are elderly people whose eyes have seen a lot, but whose hands are no longer strong. Their children may be far away or struggling with difficult circumstances themselves. The state cannot always help - bureaucracy, lack of resources or indifference leave them face to face with their misfortune. They are lonely and invisible, even though their hearts still beat and their souls yearn for warmth.

Their pension is only 3,500-4,000 hryvnias, and this amount is melting away before our eyes. A pack of nappies costs about 500 hryvnias - almost half of their monthly budget. Half of their lives are spent fighting for basic survival, for preserving at least a drop of comfort in a body that no longer obeys.

For more than 20 years, Caritas Kyiv has been standing by these people, sharing their burdens and trying to give them the feeling that they are not forgotten. We see their needs and hear their silent requests. But today we are facing an acute shortage of nappies and diapers - they are needed more than ever.

We are begging you not to pass by. Help us raise funds to buy diapers and nappies for these vulnerable souls. Every hryvnia is not just a thing, it is a sign that their dignity matters, that their pain has not gone unnoticed, that they are cared for. Let us together give them at least a little peace and warmth - something they so deserve, but so rarely receive.
