14 years ago, another boy was born to the Vikhot family. Volodya grew up a healthy, active, joyful and inquisitive child. He had good general development and rarely suffered from colds. Soon he went to school with other children. Suddenly, Volodya began to get tired quickly, lose weight, his skin became dry, and he became aggressive. When his parents went to the doctor, Volodya's condition was already critical. The child was completely exhausted. The boy was urgently sent for tests.
After leaving the intensive care unit, doctors told him that the child had type 1 diabetes – insulin-dependent, and it would be a lifelong condition. Volodya tried very hard to follow the doctor's instructions, and he also taught his mother what to do and what not to do. “The worst thing was when we were released home, fear for the child haunted me day and night. During these years of illness, we often had both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. The worst thing was hypoglycemia, because it happened mostly during sleep, and it ended in an ambulance visit.” It is a huge stress for both the child and the mother.
It's hard to see a child who can neither speak nor swallow, and who has full-body cramps. Now Volodymyr is going through puberty, and his blood sugar rises and falls for no clear reason. To live a better life, he needs to have continuous monitoring sensors to keep his sugars under control. His mother believes that one day their life will get better. And now she is asking for help.
