Thirteen-year-old Ksenia is a cheerful and active girl. She is in 8th grade, loves animals, has a favorite cat named Marta, plays basketball, and studies English.
Eight years ago, Ksenia was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent). This diagnosis was a great challenge for the whole family. Every day, the girl has to measure her blood sugar level several times, take insulin injections, and follow a strict diet. Ksenia's hands hurt from the constant finger pricks, but there is no other way – her life depends on it.
However, today there are technologies that make life much easier for children with this diagnosis – devices for continuous monitoring of blood glucose levels. They allow painless and safe monitoring of sugar levels using a sensor attached to the arm. This makes it possible to avoid dangerous sugar spikes, sleep more peacefully, and feel more secure.
Ksenia lives with her mother, who is raising her on her own – the girl's father, unfortunately, has passed away, and it is difficult for this small but incredibly strong family to buy sensors on their own. Help give this child the opportunity to live actively and with a smile!
