Let’s support Damir ahead of his 10th birthday!

On March 13, Damir will turn 10 years old. He is a long-awaited and deeply loved son in his family. But from birth, he has been fighting a rare genetic condition called Apert Syndrome. This condition causes the bones of the skull to fuse too early, and the fingers on hands and feet can be fused together.

By the age of one, Damir underwent a complex surgery to increase the volume of his skull – doctors installed special distractors to give his brain space to grow. Later, he had five more surgeries in Lviv to separate his fingers. The little boy faced everything bravely. When he learned about another major procedure, he was the first to start packing his hospital bag.

Recently, Damir became one of three children to undergo a highly complex craniofacial surgery at the National Children’s Hospital "Okhmatdyt" together with the renowned French surgeon, Professor Romain Khonsari. The surgery was free, but the special plates needed to fix his skull are not covered by the state program and must be paid for by the family.

The installed plates will help Damir breathe, swallow, chew, correct facial asymmetry, and give him the chance to enjoy a full, happy childhood.

Damir loves cars and knows car brands better than many adults. He enjoys football, but because of leg problems, he cannot run for long. He is sincere, friendly, and quickly makes friends even in the hospital. He deeply cares about his little sister and dreams of playing with her freely, without limitations.
