Due to congenital pathology the 6-year old Dania has been extremely quickly growing deaf. Today he has already stopped talking and become sullen. For Dania to be able to hear, he needs two high-capacity and expensive hearing aids. Unless these devices are installed now, by 16 years the boy will lose his hearing and even the ability to speak forever! Daniel’s mother turns for help to people who care to raise money that is required to buy the hearing aids.

Her twin pregnancy was the first and proceeded rather hard for the 36-year old Tetiana Yashevska from the small town of Nikolaivka located in Donetsk Region – the prospective mother stayed in a maternity hospital virtually throughout the pregnancy. When the twins Daniel and Ilia were born, the parents were happy. But their joy was clouded by severe pathologies the babies were born with because of abnormal pregnancy. The following diagnoses were made: infantile cerebral paralysis with psychomotor retardation to Daniel and the motor counterinhibition syndrome as well as mental retardation and mutism to Ilia. Today one baby out of a thousand is born with its hearing impaired – and Daniel became that one baby. Limitless trips to hospitals and rehabilitation centers, constant consultations with doctors... Unfortunately there was nobody to support Tetiana at that time: the father quitted family once the babies were born whereas Tetiana’s relatives themselves are in need of support: her mother is 70 years old and her sister and brother are disabled.

Today Dania is 6 years old and has been extremely quickly growing deaf. In 2011 he was examined and the diagnosis was unpromising – the boy has a double combined perceptive hearing loss of Degree 2. The phrase “THIS IS NOT CURED!” became yet another stroke of misfortune for the mother of the sick child. This yeas Daniel has had his regular examination and it revealed the impairment of hearing toward Degree 2 (the right ear) and Degree 3 (the left ear). The boy stopped to respond to questions and to speak, became sullen and restless. To eliminate the symptoms, prosthetics of both ears with high-capacity hearing aids was recommended.

Tetiana has been wrestling for her son to be able to hear. She takes Daniel daily to sessions with a speech therapist and to a city music school to learn playing the piano. But this yields no intended effect. For the child to be able to hear, it is necessary to buy two hearing aids Model Safari 900 SP produced by Oticon, which total over UAH 40,000. This amount is impossible for the mother who brings up the sons on her own and has no opportunity for full-time work. If Daniel has not these hearing aids installed in the nearest time, by 16 years the boy will lose his hearing and as a consequence the ability to speak FOREVER.
