Hear the world like never before

Mark has a bilateral hearing loss. He can hardly hear anything and communicates with the help of gestures. At the Dnipro-based All for the Ear hearing correction centre, the child was fitted with powerful, expensive Widex Moment hearing aids. For the family, who left their home in Verkhnyotoretske in March 2022, this is a huge amount of money.

The first week of the full-scale invasion, 9-month-old Mark and his 7-year-old brother Maxim spent with their parents in the basement. Then they briefly moved to live with relatives in Kostyantynivka. But the fighting did not stop, so in April, Mark's family ended up in the Dnipro.

Mark was born at 34 weeks of pregnancy. For a month, doctors fought for the baby's life: he had no sucking and swallowing reflexes, he was fed through a tube. In addition, the child was diagnosed with a bacterial infection, which required different groups of antibiotics to deal with it.

At 2.5 years old, the boy had no speech, and he was examined by an audiologist. The specialist made a diagnosis: bilateral deafness. Mark received one hearing aid.

Six months of classes with a speech therapist did not bring any results, the child did not hear better. Then the parents went with Mark to the Kyiv Institute of Otolaryngology. Examination by the SAEPs method showed that the boy's degree of hearing impairment is much stronger, so the hearing aid does not cope.

Mark was examined by a specialist at the "Vse dlia vukha" center and selected the most suitable devices for both ears, taking into account that the left hears worse than the right. What was the boy's surprise and delight when he first heard the sounds of the surrounding world!
